Regarding Dawn of the Dead

(Beware spoilers)

It was an okay movie. I expected more from it, though. I mean, the reviews have been pretty solid. It was definitely a gore-fest. And there were some really creepy moments, like the zombie with no legs swinging around on the pipes in the parking garage. I thought that the zombie baby was completely tasteless, though. I get that it's a horror movie and it has to be over the top, but that's just awful.

I also found it annoying that one of the two black guys ends up going crazy. I'm sure it wasn't done purely out of racism or anything, but why is it always the black guy? I probably would've been more entertained if that annoying little red headed girl had gone crazy over her father's death.

What was up with that ending? I don't understand the zombie head in the cooler in the boat. Did that even serve a purpose? Who put it in the boat? Did one zombie cut off the head of another zombie and put it in a cooler and send it off into the lake? Doubtful, since the zombies didn't seem to have that kind of brainpower and there wouldn't be any motivation since they didn't fight amongst themselves. And it doesn't seem at all possible that a regular person did it, because first, why would they? And second, where would that person have come from, since everyone had apparently become zombies at that point except for the group on the jerk's boat?

I can see how movies like that can't possibly end good, because even if they had gotten to the island and found no one at all, they still would've starved to death at some point and they would never be able to return home since the zombies apparently don't ever run out of power, but geez... I was hoping for at least an ambiguous ending where you can hope that it ended okay.

I guess I'd give it a C-. Some good moments, but overall disappointing.
