Still alive

Tomorrow makes one month since I moved in to the new apartment, and we're still unpacking. Things are still floating around Andy's dad's. We still don't have a dinner table. But things are slowly getting better. We saw an ad in the foyer of our building a week ago, and bought a table from a couple on our floor for $30. A dinner table and four chairs for $30! They're moving, so we can't pick it up until they're done with it on August 12th, but that's quite a steal. And thanks to Andy putting together a bookshelf for the office, that room is nearly functional.

I had a little computer crisis the other day, with both my network card and wireless card suddenly malfunctioning after a restart, but I intended to format soon anyway so it worked out. Now I have a shiney new installation of Windows XP Pro with all of my favorite programs all backed up in an image on my external drive. I don't trust this old laptop to behave for too long at this point. I can't even keep the battery in it because it causes the computer to constantly restart, and the DVD drive skips so much that I've taken to exclusively using my external CD-RW for everything. Not to mention it completely fried my wireless card. That combined with the battery issue kind of defeats the purpose of having a laptop. I'd very much like to build my own desktop to replace it soon, but I don't see that happening with the money we're making right now. We're barely making it as it is.
