Moving on?
As much as I love the university, I've grown incredibly sick of living on campus. The yelling in the halls, loud music at 3AM, fire drills just as I'm stepping into the shower, pointless floor meetings every week, and so forth... It's all very draining. Plus, I don't feel like I have much in common with undergrads. Enough that I can be friends, but not enough that I can live with them and feel like I fit in. While everyone else is worried about where the next party is going to be or how to get a boyfriend, I'm worried about getting into grad school and my wedding.
So Andy and I have been talking about moving in together next year. At first it seemed almost impossible, but things have really been looking up. Today we went on a tour at Nob Hill, a nice apartment complex about four miles from campus. His father is their attorney, so we've kind of got an "in" so to speak. We looked at a one bedroom with a balcony, a two bedroom/1.5 bath, and a one bedroom with a larger kitchen. We both preferred the two bedroom. The kitchen and bathrooms were a little small, but the closets and windows were huge and it comes with a dish washer! I hate doing dishes so much. We could use the second bedroom as an office, and having the extra .5 bathroom would keep us from fighting in the mornings.
It's looking like a pretty good opportunity. We were put on the list for a two bedroom with a city view, and since we're applying seven months in advance and so many grad students move out in May, we just might get it. If all goes well, Andy will move in in June, and then after spending the summer in Indiana and working, I'll move in in August. This is quite exciting! =O
